Donald J. Sobol was born October 4, 1924, in New York, New York. He worked briefly as a newspaper reporter, but soon became a freelance author, writing both fiction and nonfiction for children. His nonfiction books include many biographies and other historical works. He has also written Two-Minute Mysteries, an internationally syndicated newspaper column, but is perhaps best know for his Encyclopedia Brown Series of mysteries.
